These coaches are now eligible to receive the WHoopDirt.com National Coach of the Year Award presented by Just Play Solutions which will be announced at the conclusion of the 2022-23 college basketball season.
This is the fourth season that WHoopDirt.com has run the Coach of the Week and Coach of the Year programs. The list of 2022-23 Coach of the Week winners, as well as previous Coach of the Year winners can be found below this week’s recipients

The Week 14 winners are:
NCAA D1: Kenny Brooks – Virginia Tech
Weekly Record (Overall): 2-0 (20-4) |
Past week’s results: 73-61 W at #22 NC State, 84-70 W vs #19 Florida State. |
Highlights: Brooks #11 Hokies picked up two Top-25 wins last week, and have moved into 3rd place in the ACC (10-4). VT is also on a 4-game winning streak, and sports a 12-1 record at home. |
NCAA D2: Mike Williams – Grand Valley State
Weekly Record (Overall): 2-0 (22-2) |
Past week’s results: 60-43 W vs #24 Michigan Tech, 64-52 W vs Northern Michigan. |
Highlights: Grand Valley increased their lead to two games in the GLIAC with a win over 2nd place Michigan Tech on Thursday. GVSU closed the week with a milestone victory for Williams, as he earned the 200th W of his career. |
NCAA D3: Kendra Whitehead – Hardin-Simmons University
Weekly Record (Overall): 2-0 (21-2) |
Past week’s results: 59-44 W at Ozarks, 120-66 W at McMurry. |
Highlights: With two more wins last week, HSU remained undefeated (16-0) in the ASC and ran their winning streak to 18-games. In win at McMurry, Whitehead’s squad set the program record with 19 3’s made, and scored over 120 for the first time since 2009. |
NAIA: Brenita Jackson – Texas Wesleyan
Weekly Record (Overall): 3-0 (23-3) |
Past week’s results: 88-71 W vs Southwestern Christian, 100-45 W vs Central Christian, 100-74 W vs Langston. |
Highlights: Jackson’s Lady Rams hit the century mark in two out of their three wins last week to move their SAC record to 18-2, and maintain a two game lead in the standings. TWU is 11-0 at home in the SAC (13-1 overall), and currently on a 3-game win streak. |
JUCO: Mike Seney – CCBC Essex

Past week’s results: 104-62 W at Anne Arundel, 90-58 W at Chesapeake. |
Highlights: Two more dominant wins for the #2 Knights, as they have now won 7 in a row, and remain 8-0 in their conference. Seney’s team is 3rd in the country (NJCAA D2) in scoring at 91.1ppg, while allowing only 54.2ppg (36.9 average margin of victory). |
