Staley qualified for the award by being named as the WHoopDirt.com/Pivot Analysis Coach of the Week for Week 1 of the season.

This year, Coach Staley guided South Carolina to yet another outstanding season, finishing No. 1 in the country for the first time with a record of 32-1. The Gamecocks had the fifth-toughest schedule in the country, and were able to go 13-1 against ranked opponents. They closed out the season on a 26-game winning streak that included victories over No. 2 Baylor and No. 5 UConn.

With a 16-0 record in the SEC, the Gamecocks captured their fifth SEC regular season crown in the last seven seasons. Coach Staley’s squad capped off their season by winning the SEC Tournament title, defeating No. 9 Mississippi State by a score of 76-62 on March 8th. The championship was the Gamecocks’ fifth in the last six seasons.

Coach Staley picked up every major annual award this season, as she was named Coach of the Year by the AP, ESPN.com, and USBWA. She was also honored as the Naismith Coach of the Year. In her 12 seasons at South Carolina, Staley has amassed 305 wins – the most by any men’s or women’s basketball coach in school history.
