WHoopDirt.com 2021-22 NCAA D3 Coach of the Year presented by Capital Elite Agency

For Immediate Release
April 6, 2022

Hope College Head Women’s Basketball Coach Brian Morehouse has been named as the WHoopDirt.com NCAA D3 Coach of the Year presented by Capital Elite Agency for the 2021-22 college basketball season. Morehouse qualified for the award by being named as the WHoopDirt.com/Capital Elite Agency Coach of the Week in Week 4 of the season. This is the second straight season in which Morehouse has captured this award.

Coach Morehouse capped off a nearly perfect season with his second career D3 National Championship. The Flying Dutch defeated Wisconsin-Whitewater by a score of 71-58 in the title game to close out the season with a record of 32-1 (15-1 MIAA).

Morehouse’s squad dominated its competition all season long, holding the No. 1 spot in D3hoops.com Top 25 rankings in eight of the thirteen weekly polls and taking 29 of its 32 victories by double-digits. Incredibly, almost half of the Flying Dutch’s wins were by 40 or more points, with 15 victories coming by such a margin.

In his 26 seasons leading Hope, Coach Morehouse has compiled an astonishing record of 659-91 (.879). Across the last three seasons, his teams have put together a record of 77-1. Morehouse has never recorded a losing season in his career with Hope, and has not lost more than five games in a single season since the 1998-99 campaign.
