WEEK 1: WHoopDirt.com Coach of the Week presented by Just Play Solutions

Congratulations to the following coaches who have been selected as the Week 1 WHoopDirt.com Coach of the Week presented by Just Play Solutions. These coaches are now eligible to receive the WHoopDirt.com National Coach of the Year Award presented by Just Play Solutions which will be announced at the conclusion of the 2022-23 college basketball season.

This is the fourth season that WHoopDirt.com has run the Coach of the Week and Coach of the Year programs. The list of 2021-22 Coach of the Week winners, as well as previous Coach of the Year winners can be found below this week’s recipients

NCAA D1: Carrie Moore – Harvard University

Weekly Record (Overall): 2-0 (2-0)
Past week’s results: 88-74 W vs URI, 68-59 W vs Boston College
Highlights: Moore begins her career at Harvard 2-0 with quality wins over an A-10 team and an ACC team. The Crimson are 2-0 for the first time since 2019-20.

NCAA D2: Charlie Avercamp – Hillsdale College

Weekly Record (Overall): 2-0 (2-0)
Past week’s results: 98-90 (OT) W vs Truman, 66-55 W vs Quincy
Highlights: 2-0 start is Hillsdale’s best since 2016-17 season.

NCAA D3: Cheri Harrer – Baldwin Wallace University

Highlights: Upset #2 team in the nation in 2OT on opening night. Currently ranked #12 nationally.

NAIA: Alico Dunk – Stillman College

Past week’s results: 89-27 W vs Southwestern Baptist, 83-55 W vs Tougaloo College, 59-56 W vs #21 Rust College
Highlights: Defeated their second top 25 opponent in 7 days in win over Rust (beat #6 SEU on 11/5). 6-0 for the first time in over 25 years.

JUCO: MJ Baker – Eastern Florida State College

Weekly Record (Overall): 3-0 (4-0)
Past week’s results: 86-42 W at Miami Dade, 89-56 W vs John A. Logan, 75-54 W vs #6 Southern Idaho
Highlights: Currently ranked #13 in the nation, held opponents to 50.6ppg during the week, which included upset win vs #6 team in the country.
