WEEK 13: WHoopDirt.com Coach of the Week presented by Just Play Solutions

Congratulations to the following coaches who have been selected as the Week 13 WHoopDirt.com Coach of the Week presented by Just Play Solutions. These coaches are now eligible to receive the WHoopDirt.com National Coach of the Year Award presented by Just Play Solutions which will be announced at the conclusion of the 2022-23 college basketball season.

This is the fourth season that WHoopDirt.com has run the Coach of the Week and Coach of the Year programs. The list of 2022-23 Coach of the Week winners, as well as previous Coach of the Year winners can be found below this week’s recipients

The Week 13 winners are:


NCAA D1: Alex Simmons – Gardner-Webb University

Weekly Record (Overall): 2-0 (20-4)
Past week’s results: 97-63 W vs Charleston Southern, 82-56 W at Presbyterian.
Highlights: Two more blowout wins last week for Simmons’ GWU squad have pushed their winning streak to 12. The Runnin’ Bulldogs are now 10-0 at home, 12-0 in the Big South, and have a four game lead in the conference standings.

NCAA D2: Dave Krauth – Augustana University (SD)

Weekly Record (Overall): 2-0 (21-3)
Past week’s results: 79-71 W at Winona State, 82-79 W at Upper Iowa.
Highlights: Two road wins for Augustana extended their winning streak to nine games, and put them into a first-place tie in the South Division of the NSIC.

NCAA D3: Bill Broderick – Christopher Newport University

Weekly Record (Overall): 2-0 (22-0)
Past week’s results: 96-42 W vs Regent, 73-62 W vs UC Santa Cruz.
Highlights: The #1 D3 team in the country remained perfect on the season with two wins in the C2C Classic. After a blowout win in game 1, CNU trailed UC Santa Cruz at the half on Sunday – only the second time they had been down at intermission all season. They rallied for the win, which was their 37th in a row at home.

NAIA: Hannah Moeller – Mid-America Christian University

Weekly Record (Overall): 2-0 (20-4)
Past week’s results: 77-56 W at #19 USAO, 90-66 W vs #17 Texas Wesleyan
Highlights: A pair of big-time wins vs nationally ranked teams last week for Moeller and her crew, as they hit the 20 win mark on the season. The Evangels are now on a 7-game winning streak – with each of those wins coming by 16 points or more.

JUCO: Misty Opat – Cochise College

Weekly Record (Overall): 2-0 (20-3)
Past week’s results: 52-48 W vs #14 Eastern Arizona, 75-60 W vs D2 #12 Pima
Highlights: Cochise, currently ranked #22 (NJCAA D1) had two big wins at home last week, downing two nationally ranked teams. Opat’s crew is now a perfect 8-0 at home, and they are winners of five straight.
