WEEK 11: WHoopDirt.com Coach of the Week presented by Just Play Solutions

Congratulations to the following coaches who have been selected as the Week 11 WHoopDirt.com Coach of the Week presented by Just Play Solutions. These coaches are now eligible to receive the WHoopDirt.com National Coach of the Year Award presented by Just Play Solutions which will be announced at the conclusion of the 2022-23 college basketball season.

This is the fourth season that WHoopDirt.com has run the Coach of the Week and Coach of the Year programs. The list of 2022-23 Coach of the Week winners, as well as previous Coach of the Year winners can be found below this week’s recipients

The Week 11 winners are:


NCAA D1: Dawn Staley – University of South Carolina

Weekly Record (Overall): 2-0 (20-0)
Past week’s results: 96-48 W at Vanderbilt, 92-46 W vs Arkansas.
Highlights: Two more dominant SEC wins for Staley and the Gamecocks last week have pushed their record to 20-0 (8-0 SEC). In the Arkansas game, the Gamecocks’ +57 rebounding margin set a new program record, and their 74 total rebounds setting a new program high in an SEC game. Dating back to last season, USC has now won 25 games in a row.

NCAA D2: Carrie Eighmey – University of Nebraska at Kearney

Weekly Record (Overall): 2-0 (18-3)
Past week’s results: 86-54 W at Emporia State, 55-51 W at Washburn.
Highlights: UNK won two big MIAA games on the road last week and are now 18-3 and 11-2 in the league. The 16th ranked Lopers are now winners of 5 in a row, and are a perfect 10-0 on the season at home.

NCAA D3: Cameron Hill – Trinity University (TX)

Weekly Record (Overall): 2-0 (19-0)
Past week’s results: 96-46 W vs Centenary, 96-38 W vs St. Thomas.
Highlights: The #1 ranked D3 team in the country continued their undefeated start to the season, winning two games last week by an average margin of 54 points. Trinity is now 10-0 in the SCAC on the season, and on a 36-game winning streak in the league.

NAIA: Courtney Boyd – Clarke University (IA)

Weekly Record (Overall): 3-0 (18-2)
Past week’s results: 85-48 W vs William Penn, 90-51 W at Graceland, 83-75 W at Grand View.
Highlights: Boyd’s #8 Pride enjoyed a perfect 3-0 week, and have now run their record to 18-2 on the season. They are also on an 11-game winning streak and have not lost a game at home this year (10-0).

JUCO: Jason Nichols – Morton College

Weekly Record (Overall): 2-0 (18-0)
Past week’s results: 111-44 W vs McHenry County, 107-30 vs Prairie State.
Highlights: Nichols’ Morton squad took over the #1 ranking in NJCAA D2 this week, after adding two more W’s to the win column. On the season, Morton is outscoring their opponents by 42ppg, and in their 4 Skyway games, they are winning by an average margin of 62.75.
