Westmont College Head Women’s Basketball Coach Kirsten Moore has been named as the WHoopDirt.com NAIA Coach of the Year presented by Pivot Analysis for the 2020-21 college basketball season. Moore qualified for the award by being named as the HoopDirt.com/Pivot Analysis Coach of the Week for Week 13 of the college basketball season.
After entering last season’s National Tournament as the No. 1 overall seed for the first time in program history and having the season cut short, Coach Moore’s squad picked up right where they left off, capturing the program’s second-ever NAIA National Championship. The Warriors did not lose to an NAIA team this season, going 15-1 (6-0 GSAC) overall. Their only loss came in their season opener at Division I Pepperdine. 10 of Westmont’s 15 wins came by double-digits, including their National Championship victory over top-seeded Thomas More.
Coach Moore’s squad dominated defensively all season, as no opponent scored more than 68 points against them. The Warriors held their opponents to under 50 points six times on the campaign, including in four of their six conference match-ups.
Dating back to January of 2020, Coach Moore has guided Westmont to 27 consecutive victories over NAIA opponents. Moore’s teams at Westmont have won 20 or more contests in 11 straight seasons, and have gone 42-4 over the last two years. In her 16 seasons with the Warriors, Moore has compiled an overall record of 370-123 (.751).
