Congratulations to the following coaches who have been selected as the Week 3 WHoopDirt.com Coach of the Week presented by Pivot Analysis. These coaches are now eligible to receive the WHoopDirt.com National Coach of the Year Award presented by Pivot Analysis which will be announced at the conclusion of the 2023-24 college basketball season.
This is the fifth season that WHoopDirt.com has run the Coach of the Week and Coach of the Year programs. The list of 2023-24 Coach of the Week winners, as well as previous Coach of the Year winners can be found below this week’s recipients

The Week 3 winners are:
D1: Wes Moore – North Carolina State
Weekly record (overall): 3-0 (7-0)
Past week’s results: 84-55 W vs Kentucky, 79-45 W vs Cincinnati, 78-60 W vs #3 Colorado
Highlights: A big-time week for Moore and his Wolfpack, as they captured the Paradise Jam and knocked off the #3 team in the country in the process. NC State pounded Kentucky and Cincinnati in their first two games in the Paradise Jam – winning those two games by an average of 31.5ppg. Their 78-60 win over #3 Colorado not only gave them the tourney title, but it was also the Wolfpack’s second top 3 victory of the season (they beat #2 UConn on 11/12). The Pack’s 18-point margin vs Colorado tied as its second-largest victory over a top-five opponent in a total of 25 such wins in team history.
NCAA D2: Tom Shirley – Thomas Jefferson University
Weekly record (overall): 2-0 (6-0)
Past week’s results: 73-48 W vs East Stroudsburg, 75-63 W vs #6 West Chester
Highlights: Shirley’s #19/11 Rams won two more games last week to run their winning streak to six. In their first win of the week, Jefferson held East Stroudsburg to single digit scoring in each of the first 3 quarters and allowed them to shoot only 32% from the field in the win. The Rams then had their biggest win of the young season on Sunday as they beat #6/9 West Chester in a game where they held yet another opponent to 32% shooting. On the season, Jefferson is out scoring their opponents by 19ppg, while holding them to just 55.7ppg.
NCAA D3: Juli Fulks – Transylvania University
Weekly record (overall): 2-0 (3-0)
Past week’s results: 72-42 W vs Maryville, 54-48 W vs Wisconsin Lutheran
Highlights: The defending NCAA D3 National Champions are picking up where they left off last season, as they won two games in the Pat Deacon Classic over the weekend and pushed their winning streak to 36 games. After blowing out Maryville in the first game, the Pioneers found themselves trailing Wisconsin Lutheran by 5 at the end of the first quarter in the second game. After clawing back to take a 1 point lead at the half, Transy then scored the first ten points of the second half and didn’t look back on the way to their 3rd win of the young season. With the wins, the Pioneers now hold the longest win streak in NCAA DIII and second longest win streak in all of NCAA.
NAIA: Ginger High Colvin – Campbellsville University
Weekly record (overall): 2-0 (6-0)
Past week’s results: 94-59 W vs #7 Rio Grande, 119-48 W vs Union (KY)
Highlights: Two wins in Tennessee last week for Campbellsville now have the #1 NAIA team in the nation sitting at 6-0 on the season. After trailing previously undefeated #7 Rio Grande by 1 at the end of the first quarter on Friday, the Lady Tigers exploded for 34 second quarter points on their way to a 35-point win. The next day, Campbellsville scored 70 first half points and came away with a 71-point over Union (KY). In the 119-48 win, 75 of Campbellsville’s points came from their bench.
JUCO: Erika Harris – Moberly Area CC
Weekly record (overall): 2-0 (6-1)
Past week’s results: 68-54 W vs Danville Area CC, 97-41 W vs Spoon River
Highlights: Harris, in her first year as the head coach at MACC, has her team off to a fast start as they are now 6-1 on the season and on a 6-game winning streak. The Greyhounds knocked off Danville Area CC on Friday by 14. It was a significant win, as Harris was the head coach at Danville last season where she led them to a 22-11 mark, and an 8th place national finish. On Saturday, MACC used a 34-7 first quarter to propel them to a 56-point win over Spoon River.
