Zeidman added to Canisius Women’s Basketball staff

Canisius women’s basketball coach Sahar Nusseibeh announced the addition of Jared Zeidman to her staff as an assistant coach on Thursday.

“I am thrilled to welcome Jared to our program,” Nusseibeh said. “Jared brings a tremendous amount of experience and knowledge, and his high energy and positivity is something these young women will thrive off of. His outgoing personality will allow him to connect with our current women, as well as future Golden Griffins and their families. I am looking forward to all the value he will add to Canisius women’s basketball.”

Zeidman joins the Blue and Gold after spending the previous nine seasons working with the Union College (N.Y.) women’s basketball program, including serving as the associate head coach for the past three seasons.

In his role with the Dutchwomen, Zeidman served as the acting head coach during games as well as coordinating all recruiting efforts for the program. During his time in Schenectady, Zeidman aided the development of 10 All-Liberty League selections, three unanimous Liberty League All-Rookie Team honorees, and the 2015-2016 Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year, Erin Lyons.

“I would like to thank Coach Nusseibeh for this opportunity,” Ziedman said. “In addition to being a great coach and recruiter, she has a gift of bringing people together and maximizing their strengths. Thus far, her enthusiasm and commitment have been matched by that of the student-athletes. There’s excitement brewing here at Canisius and I am privileged to be a part of it.”

Prior to his time with Union, Zeidman began his coaching career as a graduate intern with the University at Buffalo men’s basketball program from 2009-2011, working under current Canisius men’s basketball coach Reggie Witherspoon.

A native of Schenectady, N.Y., Zeidman earned his undergraduate degree in media studies from Quinnipiac in 2008 and then went on to earn his master’s degree in student affairs administration from Buffalo in 2011.
