Wells resigns as Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Jamestown CC

Jamestown Community College women’s basketball head coach Travis Wells has resigned effective immediately.

Wells has been at the helm of the women’s basketball season since the 2015-16 season and has been apart of the staff for over the past 25 years.

In his final season with the Jayahwks, Wells finished the season with a season record of 10-16 and a region record of 2-6, bowing out in the semifinals against Niagara County Community College, the eventual Region III Division II Champions.

In his five years of steering the ship, Wells was the head coach in over 130 games while being on the bench for 730 games in his tenure.

“We’re thankful for Travis’ time and what he has put into the program, not just for the past five years, but over the long haul,” said Director of Athletics and Recreation George Sisson. “He’s a Jayhawk. He’s seen a lot of different things over 25 years of women’s athletics here at JCC. I was sure to thank him for that.”

Under his guidance, Wells had five players earn Region III Division II All-Region team honors. Wells also received the Region III Division II Coach of the Year award for the 2017-18 season, going 19-7 overall with a region record of 11-4.

“With the departure of Wells, Sisson has begun his search to find his replacement. “I want to get anybody who is interested in the job to apply and get connected with me, so that we can more and try to get a replacement hired so that we don’t lose any recruiting time,” said Sisson.
