Hudson Valley CC tabs Danzy as new Head Women’s Basketball Coach

After a national search, Hudson Valley Community College Director of Athletics, Justin Hoyt named Keith Danzy as head coach of the College’s women’s basketball program. 

Danzy comes to Hudson Valley following 20 years as the Director of Girls Basketball with the perennial Albany City Rocks program. Coach Danzy was responsible for day to day operations, supervising all volunteers and coaches from Utica, Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo.

“Keith brings an experienced background with a tremendous track record of success both on and off the court”, said Justin Hoyt, Hudson Valley Director of Athletics. “His core values align with the departments mission and goals, and I look forward to seeing the program grow under his leadership.”

A Hudson Valley alumnus, Danzy is a veteran women’s basketball coach with a proven record of success in recruiting and developing some of the best girls basketball talent among the Capital region and across New York State as part of the Nike EYBL program, including Saratoga Springs graduates Dolly Cairns (Rhode Island) and Kerry Flaherty (Holy Cross), Niskayuna’s Olivia Owens (Kentucky), Schenectady’s Sheila Dixon (Brown), Maple Hill’s Katie Roth (Hartford), Albany’s Lakeytah Irving (Coppin State) and Kingston’s Rachel Coffey (Syracuse). Coach Danzy has helped the City Rocks student-athletes secure more than 15 million dollars in athletic scholarships. 
  
During his 20 years with the City Rocks, Danzy helped the AAU program expand its reach throughout the nation, which included increased fundraising, endowment management, budgeting, attracting national sponsorship opportunities and organized major tournaments that hosted multiple program representing 10 different states. 
  
Following his All-American playing career at Hudson Valley, Danzy went on to continue his education and athletics career at Gannon University (Division II), where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice in 1995.
