Cape Fear Community College Athletics announces that former Women’s Basketball Assistant Coach Taylor Todd-Williams has been promoted to the position of Head Coach.
“We are proud to recognize Taylor’s contributions to our department over the years, both as a former student-athlete and as a coach and mentor to these young student-athletes,” says CFCC Athletic Director Ryan Mantlo. “We are confident and eager for Coach Todd-Williams to jump into this new role and continue to grow our successful Women’s Basketball program here at Cape Fear.”
Taylor Todd-Williams joined the Sea Devils Women’s Basketball coaching staff in 2021 as an Assistant Coach. In her first year as an assistant, she played a crucial role in the Sea Devils’ 2022 Region 10 Championship title and NJCAA Tournament appearance, which was the team’s first National Tournament appearance since 2018: back when Todd-Williams served as a team captain in her second season as a Sophomore Guard. Moving into their most recent season in 2023, the Sea Devils broke the CFCC Women’s Basketball record for most games won in a row (13 games) to start their season under Todd-Williams guiding hand.
Coach Todd-Williams played for CFCC from 2017-2019 where she was a leading contributor in a total of 38 conference wins, a 2018 Regular Season Championship, and two Region 10 Tournament Championships where they earned bids to the NJCAA National Tournament Championships. In her 2019 season, the Sea Devils finished the NJCAA Tournament in 3rd place: the highest NJCAA Tournament placement of any CFCC Athletics program.
With Todd-Williams’ combined basketball knowledge, winning record, and reputation for positive culture creation, the Sea Devils welcome Taylor into the fold as Head Coach with open arms.

Taylor is originally from Los Angeles, CA, but grew up in Jacksonville, NC where she played for Jacksonville High School and for Flight 22 Basketball in Wilmington, NC.
