“We are tremendously excited for Dwight to lead our program and join our College community because he is an excellent fit on a number of levels,” McCarthy said. “He provides what we seek in terms of coaching, recruiting, communicating, and relationship-building and has helped lead winning college and AAU programs right here in the Bronx.”
“More than anything, as those who have worked alongside Dwight will express, we’re excited about the quality of person joining our team.”
Shaw recently completed his third year on the Hostos Community College men’s basketball staff, on which he was a major part of the Caimans success. Chief among his responsibilities was coordinating team defense and the team conditioning program that enabled Hostos’ fast-paced tempo. He also brings the Broncos a strong presence in New York City’s girls high school basketball scene. Since 2016, Shaw has coached with the New Heights AAU girls program, patrolling the sidelines with the 16-and-under and 17-and-under teams that have produced numerous NCAA Division I scholarship players and local NJCAA players alike.
Shaw is a physical education teacher at Nazareth Regional High School in Brooklyn. He graduated from Brooklyn College in 2010 with a dual degree in physical education and exercise science after earning his associate’s degree from SUNY Sullivan, where he lettered on the men’s basketball team.
