Wilhelm named Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Hagerstown CC

Cindy Wilhelm has been hired as the head women’s basketball coach at Hagerstown Community College. She has been serving as the girls’ varsity head coach at Brunswick High School in Frederick, Md., for the past three years.

“I’m thrilled to be able to recruit and coach for the Hawks,” said Wilhelm. “I hope to use my experience and long-time relationships within the local basketball community to build a winning program at Hagerstown – one that recognizes success on and off the court.”

Wilhelm has more than 22 years of coaching experience at various levels. At Brunswick, she led the team to place in regional finals, with playoff game wins in consecutive seasons, for the first time in 10 years. As a high school basketball player at Thomas Johnson, she set records and continued her basketball career on a full scholarship to the California University of Pennsylvania.

More than 20 years ago, Wilhelm and her late husband established Cutting Edge Contracting, Inc., a successful custom home building and remodeling company, where she now serves as the president and owner.

“I am delighted to have Cindy as our new women’s head coach,” said HCC Athletic Director Amy Sterner. “She brings high energy, commitment, and an in-depth knowledge of the game. I am looking forward to working with her to bring an exciting brand of basketball back to HCC.”
