Southwestern CC (IA) Head WBB Coach Austin resigns

Bryan Austin, Southwestern Community College head women’s basketball coach, resigned his position last week. The resignation was effective immediately.

Austin has been the head women’s basketball coach since May 2018, accumulating a record of 43-69 at SWCC, and 31-41 in ICCAC play. He took the Spartans to the NJCAA North Central A District Championship game in the 2020-21 season before losing to Kirkwood Community College. He also coached Alyssa Morris to Women’s Basketball Coaches Association All-American status this past year.

Prior to coming to SWCC, Austin was the head girls basketball coach at Ruskin High School in Kansas City, Mo.

Le’Ondra Wilson, assistant women’s basketball coach, also resigned her position. Wilson served as Austin’s assistant coach for the 2021-22 season.

According to Doug North, Southwestern assistant athletic director, the search for a new women’s basketball coach has begun.
