The Ohio Dominican University athletic department announced the new leader for the women’s basketball program.
Ohio Dominican Athletic Director Jeff Blair has unveiled Klarke Ransome as the new head coach of the Panthers. Ransome is now the ninth head coach in program history and fifth in the NCAA Division II era.
“We are excited to welcome Coach Ransome to Ohio Dominican as the new head women’s basketball coach,” said Blair. “Klarke’s coaching success and experience in Central Ohio and his commitment to building a strong student-athlete experience for our program enabled him to be a strong fit for our department.”
Ransome has coached at the high school level for the last six seasons, most recently as the head girls basketball coach at Olentangy High School.
In his two seasons with the Braves, Ransome led his team to back-to-back Division I regional finals with a 22-4 overall record each year. His team was Ohio Capital Conference Champions both seasons with two district titles while finishing as the regional runner-up. The team compiled a 44-8 mark over the last two seasons.
“I am honored and excited to accept the position of Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Ohio Dominican University,” stated Ransome. “I want to sincerely thank President Dr. Shonna Riedlinger, Athletic Director Jeff Blair, the entire hiring committee, and everyone involved in this process for believing in me and giving me this incredible opportunity. I am excited to build meaningful relationships with our student-athletes, foster a championship culture, and empower our players to grow as leaders, teammates, and individuals. I look forward to leading this program and becoming part of the Ohio Dominican community.”
Before becoming the head coach at Olentangy High School, Ransome was the head girls basketball coach at Marysville High School.
Marysville was 87-17 in his four seasons with three OCC titles (2021-2023), the school’s first district title (2023) in program history and advanced to the regional final in 2023.
Ransome was named OCC Coach of the Year five different times and was awarded District Coach of the Year in four different seasons.
As a former student-athlete, Ransome played four years at Wilmington College, a NCAA Division III school. During his career with the Quakers, he was a team captain and played in 84 games. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education with a Coaching minor in 2014. Ransome also got an Adapted Physical Education Endorsement from Wright State University in 2017.
