Seton Hill University President Mary Finger has announced the hiring of Nick Volchok as head coach of the women’s basketball program.
“This is an absolute dream come true,” said Coach Volchok. “I have worked extremely hard to get to this chapter of my career, but today would not have been possible without the love and support of my wife, my family, my colleagues, my players, and most importantly, my faith in God. I am incredibly grateful for everyone who has helped me along the way, especially the administration at Seton Hill for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to lead this program. When I first arrived on campus, I immediately knew there was something special about Seton Hill. It has a unique feel, with a rich history and tradition alongside exciting growth. But what stood out to me the most were the people. This is a community that cares about one another, values its people and takes great pride in representing our university. That sense of connection is what made me want to call Seton Hill my home.”

I truly believe that if our student-athletes show up everyday with an intentional mindset and give their best effort, we will put ourselves in the best position to achieve not only the results we want on the court, but also in life. The work begins, brick by brick. I believe the best is still yet to come for Seton Hill women’s basketball.”

Volchok has spent the past three season as an assistant at Marist. In his three seasons with the Red Foxes, Volchok coached three All MAAC performers and two MAAC All Rookie team selection. The 2024-25 team finished with 16 wins, 11 conference wins which doubled the win totals from the previous season.
Prior to Marist, Volchok spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Iona. In his two seasons with the Gaels, Volchok helped lead them to 43 wins and 2022-23 MAAC Championship. He assisted with head coach Billi Chambers on offensive implementation and was in charge of player development which included Player of the Year Juana Camilion and All MAAC performers Kate Mager and Ketsia Athias.
Volchok was also very successful at the AAU level, as the owner, director and head coach of the Empire State Basketball Club. His program was nationally recognized as one of the premier youth basketball clubs in the Northeast. Volchok was also the head coach at the Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, turning around the program during his five-year stint. He inherited a team that won just five games the year prior, eventually leading the program to three straight NYSAIS State Championship appearances and a NYSAIS Championship in 2018-19. Volchok was a finalist for the Lohud Coach of the Year that season.
Volchok received his Associate’s Degree in Communications from Rockland CC in 2002 and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism & Mass Media from Mercy College in 2004. He played one season at Rockland CC, setting a single-season program record for three-pointers made and was named Second Team All-Region and All-Conference. Volchok continued on to Mercy, where he was a 1,000-point scorer. He went on to play three seasons of professional basketball in Germany and Italy, before returning stateside and spending time with the Westchester Phantoms and Portland Chinooks. Volchok was inducted into the Rockland Community College Hall of Fame in 2018.
