Perrott-Hunt and Mason Join Tiffin University Women’s Basketball Coaching Staff

Tiffin women’s basketball head coach Jessie Ivey has announced two additions to her staff for the 2020-21 season, as Georgia Perrott-Hunt and Josh Mason will both join the program as graduate assistants.

Perrott-Hunt, a 2020 graduate of Tiffin, will have a smooth transition into her new position after spending the 2019-20 season as a student assistant for the program. Prior to that, she was a member of the team in 2018-19, appearing in all 28 games for the Dragons. She averaged 5.1 points per game and 3.1 rebounds per game, notching season-bests of 14 points twice.

Hailing from Auckland, New Zealand, Perrott-Hunt transferred to TU after attending the North Dakota State College of Science for two seasons, during which the Wildcats won back-to-back regional tournaments.

“Georgia is the epitome of what it means to be a Dragon,” said Ivey. “As a player, she helped elevate our program to new heights and I am absolutely thrilled she has decided to continue her academic career here at TU while helping us continue to build on the championship culture she has been an integral part of the past two seasons. She is an energy giver who gives 100% every single day.”

Mason graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Middle Childhood Education. He has spent the last five years teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Math at Cedarville Middle School in Cedarville, Ohio.

Mason’s passion for coaching basketball began during his time at Cincinnati when he was given the opportunity to be a practice player for the women’s basketball program during the 2012-2013 season. He brings over eight years of coaching experience including stints in junior high, AAU, and high school.

He has spent the last four years as Head Varsity Coach at Cedarville High School, and during his four-year tenure, Cedarville won 71% of their games with an overall record of 73-30.

“Josh Mason has an impeccable reputation in Ohio as a basketball guru,” said Ivey. “He is known for his basketball IQ, blue-collar work ethic, and pure love for the game. I could not be more excited to welcome him and his wife to the Dragon family.”
Perrott-Hunt and Mason will join a Dragon program on the rise after finishing seventh in the GMAC standings this past year to give TU its first conference tournament berth since the 2012 season. That berth was clinched via a historical upset, as the Dragons took down #17 Kentucky Wesleyan in double overtime on Feb. 29 to also give the program its first-ever win over a team ranked in the DII top-25. Similar to 2018-19, Tiffin finished the season very strong, winning six of their final eight regular-season games.
