Medaille Names Nick Moore Head Women’s Basketball Coach

The Medaille University Department of Athletics has announced the hiring of Nick Moore as the new Head Women’s Basketball Coach.

“We are excited to announce that Nick Moore will be the new head coach of the women’s basketball team,” stated Medaille University Director of Athletics, Susan Roarke. “Nick brings to Medaille a tremendous coaching background after numerous years as a Division I assistant coach. We are looking forward to Nick arriving on campus and continuing the growth of the women’s basketball program under his leadership.”

Moore joins Medaille after being the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Binghamton University in Binghamton, N.Y. In his position, some of his duties were overseeing all recruiting operations, organizing and implementing defensive strategies and concepts in games and practices, putting together scouting reports, and conducting weekly academic meetings.

Prior to his time at Binghamton, Moore was the Bowling Green State University Women’s Basketball Assistant Coach, and First Assistant and Recruiting Coordinator for Canisius College Women’s Basketball. He has spent many years working with women’s basketball student-athletes.

With the change from the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) to the Empire 8 Conference this season, Moore is excited to get started.

“Coming in as a head coach during this transition is a unique opportunity, and I’m excited for the challenge,” stated Moore. “Buffalo is home to me! I have worked and recruited in Western New York for the majority of my career, and I’m excited to be back.”

Moore has experience in multiple NCAA women’s basketball divisions and has plans to bring that with him when the team gets back together in the fall.

“I have been fortunate enough to have been mentored by talented head coaches,” said Moore. “Each stop I have made in my career, I have added tools and developed as a coach. I will take things from each of these experiences with me as I move into this new role of Head Coach.”

Moore will be tasked with helping grow the program, and put together a team that will compete in the Mavericks’ first year in the Empire 8 Conference in the 2022 season.

Moore is excited to get started and has immediately felt a warm welcome from the Medaille Community. “I want to thank Athletic Director Susan Roarke, and Interim President Dr. Lori Quigley for this amazing opportunity,” said Moore. “Getting to know the athletic department and the team has been a great experience, and I can’t wait to grow these relationships even more!”
