Knox joins FSW Women’s Basketball Staff as Assistant Coach

Florida SouthWestern State Head Women’s Basketball Coach Dr. Jerald Ellis has rounded out his coaching staff for the 2021-2022 season, announcing the hiring of Mariah Knox to serve as an Assistant for the Bucs.

Knox has spent the past five seasons working for Blue Star Media and US Junior Nationals, organizing tournaments and scouting future prospects at events around the country. In 2018-2019 she was a member of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee coaching staff, serving as a Graduate Manager and Video Analyst while helping the Panthers to a spot in the Horizon League Tournament.

Ellis said of Knox’s hiring “It was clear to the committee that after reviewing over 100 applicants, Mariah was a perfect fit for FSW and the culture of our Women’s Basketball program.  We are excited to get her here on campus and get going as we prepare to defend our Southern Conference Championship.”

As a player, Knox made two stops during her collegiate career, playing her first two seasons at John Brown University in Arkansas before transferring to Kansas Wesleyan for her final two years.  In her two years at KWU she played in 60 games, drawing 29 starts, averaging 8.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game for the Coyotes.

On joining the FSW staff, Knox said “I am very blessed to have been given the opportunity to work alongside Coach Ellis. The program’s emphasis on hard work, consistency, high-character players and family atmosphere spoke heavily to me about the culture of FSW. I cannot wait to join the FSW staff and encompass what it means to truly be a Buccaneer. I am beyond grateful.”
