Justinger resigns as Head WBB Coach at D2 Tiffin

Miriam Justinger has resigned as Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Tiffin University.

Justinger has served for the last two seasons as Head Coach, compiling a 31-24 record over that time. Her .563 winning percentage over that stretch is the highest in the 37-year history of the program.

Justinger helped lead the Dragons to one of the most historic seasons since the program’s inception in 2020-21. The team finished 18-9, the second-highest win total in school history. The team progressed all the way to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen, winning the GMAC Tournament Championship in the process.

The 18-9 record, highlighted by a seven-game winning streak during the postseason, equaled the best debut ever for a TU women’s basketball head coach.

Before becoming Head Coach, Justinger spent 2018-19 and 2019-20 as the top assistant and was promoted to Recruiting Coordinator for the 2019-20 campaign.

“It is with much thought and consideration that I have decided to resign from my position as Head Coach of the Tiffin University Women’s Basketball Program,” said Justinger. “I am forever grateful for the opportunities and experiences the University and program have given me. To all of the players, parents, and fans, thank you for giving me countless memories I will carry with me for a lifetime. I will continue to cheer on all the student-athletes, current and past, as they continue excellence on and off the floor.”

“I truly want to thank Mir for the two years she served as head coach,” said Athletic Director Lonny Allen. “She stepped into a tough situation to become interim head coach and did great things with our program. I can’t thank her enough. What she has done with our program was remarkable. I personally wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors. Mir has made the TU women’s basketball program a national contender and has made the job one that is highly attractive.”

A nationwide search for Tiffin’s next head coach will begin immediately.
