Hillsdale College Hires Assistant Coach

The newest member of the Hillsdale College women’s basketball coaching staff has some deep and impressive local roots.

Head coach Todd Mitmesser announced the hiring of Morgan Warfield as an assistant coach for the Chargers.

Warfield’s name is well-known to Hillsdale-area sports fans, who remember her from a dominant career at Camden-Frontier High School, located in the west part of Hillsdale County.

Warfield turned in a prolific athletic career at Siena Heights University, where she was a four-year starter in both basketball and softball. On the hardwood, she set school records for most 3-pointers made in a game, season and career, and set the program standard for games played in a career (134). She earned honorable mention All-Conference honors as a junior, and was a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete with the Saints. She majored in elementary education at Siena Heights and has her ZS Endorsement in early childhood development. She is currently working as a reading assistant at her alma mater, Camden-Frontier High School.

She also ranks in Siena Heights women’s basketball all-time top 10 in total points, scoring average, field goals made, 3-point field goal percentage, steals, assists, rebounds, games started and minutes played. She was named to the WHAC All-Academic Team a total of four times (twice each for basketball and softball). As a softball player, she batted .348 as a senior in 2015, with 15 stolen bases and four wins as a pitcher.

As a prep star for the Redskins from 2007-11, she poured in 1,894 points in her four-year basketball career with the Redskins, along with more than 600 rebounds, 300 steals and 300 assists. She was First-Team All-Conference four times in both basketball and softball, and earned All-State honors as a senior in 2011.
