Sacramento State will not renew the contract of women’s basketball head coach Bunky Harkleroad, athletics director Mark Orr announced. 

The Hornets completed the 2020-21 season with a 3-22 overall record, including a 2-18 finish in Big Sky Conference games.

Harkleroad spent eight seasons as the women’s basketball head coach and compiled an 88-151 overall record with a 58-94 mark in Big Sky Conference play. His contract expired following the conclusion of the 2020-21 season.

“We appreciate the eight years of service Coach Harkleroad gave to Hornet basketball,” said Orr. “I wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors.”

A nationwide search for the next Sacramento State head women’s basketball coach will begin immediately.
