Hammond Named St.Joes Women’s Basketball Graduate Manager

Danielle Hammond has been named as a graduate manager for the Saint Joseph’s women’s basketball program, head coach Cindy Griffin officially announced on Wednesday afternoon.
 
“We are excited that Danielle has joined our staff. As a former A-10 player from the Philly area, Danielle knows what it takes to compete and succeed at this level,” Griffin said. “We look forward to Danielle transferring that knowledge and skill set to our team.”
 
“I’m so excited to be back home in Philly and back in the Atlantic 10 Conference,” said Hammond. “I think this team has the potential to go far and I’m ready to get started!”
 
Already familiar with Hawk Hill, Hammond joins the staff after spending her collegiate career within the Atlantic 10 at VCU. After graduation, Hammond applied her trade professionally in Spain in the 2020-21 season before returning to Philadelphia.
 
The 2020 graduate collected 870 points during her career with the Rams, tallying 436 rebounds and 182 blocks. The Philly native excelled in her senior season, averaging 11.3 points while leading the A-10 in field goal percentage (63.1percent) and adding 6.1 rebounds per game. Hammond also proved a force on the defensive side of the ball, setting the VCU single-season blocks record (76) and ranked 16th nationally in the category.   
 
Hammond garnered a host of accolades in her career, highlighted by her senior season. Hammond received Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year recognition, as well as earning A-10 All-Conference Second Team and All-Defensive Team honors.
