Cleveland State Women’s Basketball Staff Update

Cleveland State women’s basketball head coach Chris Kielsmeier announced the addition of Jenna Bolstad and Carolyn Wochele to the 2025-26 coaching staff, as Bolstad is set to join the Vikings as an assistant coach and Wochele will serve as the video coordinator.

Bolstad comes to Cleveland State with more than 10 years of collegiate coaching experience, most recently spending time as an assistant coach at Northern Illinois. Prior to her time with the Huskies, Bolstad spent two seasons as the head coach at Miles Community College, while also spending time at Montana Tech and Williston State College.

Throughout her coaching tenure, Bolstad has spent time with player development, recruiting, scouting and opponent analysis, academics, and was most recently the co-defensive coordinator at NIU. In addition, Bolstad was also responsible for guard development at NIU, along with serving as the team culture and leadership coordinator.

“We are excited to add Jenna to our staff, her experience and knowledge of the game will be a great addition as we continue to push the Cleveland State women’s basketball program forward,” Kielsmeier said. “Jenna’s experience in a variety of areas will allow her to contribute to our program in multiple ways.”

Bolstad owns an associate’s degree from Miles Community College, and a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Black Hills State, where she earned DAC All-Conference, NAIA Scholar-Athlete, and set a program record with a .609 field goal percentage during the 2009-10 campaign.

Wochele joins the Vikings as the video coordinator following a graduate assistantship with the women’s basketball team at Walsh University last season. During her time at Walsh, Wochele assisted with scheduling, travel arrangements, player workouts, evaluating and recruiting. In addition, she managed the social media accounts, assisting in creating content and newsletters to boost fan engagement.

Prior to her time at Walsh, Wochele was a four-year letterwinner at Baldwin Wallace, where she was a team captain and SAAC Committee member. Wochele helped the Yellow Jackets to three OAC Championships and three NCAA Tournament bids – including a pair of Sweet 16 appearances.

“We are happy to have Carolyn join our staff, and looking forward to what she can bring in our video coordinator role,” Kielsmeier said. “Her background will make her a great fit in our program, and her adaptability will provide us with an advantage as we continue to chase championships this season.”

Following her playing career, Wochele was part of the WBCA ‘So’ Program, attending workshops, roundtables and on-court demonstrations in preparation for becoming a coach.

Wochele earned her bachelor’s degree from Baldwin Wallace in spring of 2024.
