Clark named Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Lake Region State

A Royals standout will return to take the helm for women’s basketball at Lake Region State College.

Ryan Clark has been hired as LRSC’s head women’s basketball coach and assistant athletic director.

Lake Region State College President Doug Darling said Clark rose to the top of a competitive field of applicants.

“Ryan’s passion and energy for LRSC is undeniable and he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience along with him,” Darling said.

Clark currently is at Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D., as assistant coach for its women’s basketball program that recently completed a 13-15 season.

“I am excited to welcome home a former Royal, Ryan Clark, as our new women’s basketball coach and assistant athletic director,” said LRSC Athletic Director Jared Marshall.

“I believe his time as an assistant coach in the NSIC and North Star has prepared him to be our new head Coach. I am looking forward to welcoming him and his wife Sheridan back to Devils Lake.”

A native of Adelaide Australia, Clark earned a Master of Science in Sports Management from Minot State University, Bachelor of Business Administration from Dickinson State University, and his Associate in Arts from Lake Region State College. While at LRSC (2014-2016), Clark set an LRSC record for most career rebounds. He averaged 13.5 points per game and 10.3 rebounds per game during his LRSC career while helping the Royals to a 42-20 overall record.

He was named to the All-Conference Academic Team 2014-15 and 2015-16; named All Conference/All Region during the 2015-2016 season; earned dean’s list honors each semester, and was an LRSC Who’s Who Award winner 2016.

After graduating from LRSC, Clark received a basketball scholarship from Dickinson State University where he played for two seasons from 2016-2018. Clark was selected as the 2017-2018 North Star Champion of Character while playing at Dickinson State University.

He was an assistant coach for Dickinson State’s men’s basketball team during the 2018-2019 season and also was an enrollment specialist during his time as an assistant coach. From Dickinson State, Clark went to be an assistant coach for Minot State University women’s basketball team from 2019-2021. He served as interim head women’s basketball coach at Minot State for the final 3 weeks of the season in February/March 2021.

Clark is excited to start his Royals coaching duties.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to return to Lake Region State College. I cannot wait to get started building relationships and coaching these talented student athletes,” Clark said.

His first day at LRSC is  March 9th.

“Lake Region State College is a special place to me so it’s great to return to where my college basketball experience started.”
