Bouman Named Head Women’s Basketball Coach at D’Youville

D’Youville University Director of Athletics, Ona Halladay, has announced the addition of Ali Bouman as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach.

“I would like to thank Ona Halladay, Rebecca Capinera, Bill Morris, and the rest of the D’Youville staff for this incredible opportunity,” said Bouman. “It has been a desire of mine to coach collegiately and compete for a championship, while also using the sport of basketball as a tool to allow athletes to reach their potential upon graduation in wherever life takes them. I aspire to teach life and leadership skills through the rigors of being a Division II student-athlete.”

Bouman joins the Saints after serving as an assistant coach at Davenport University last season. During her time with the Panthers, Bouman saw four athletes named to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic and All-Academic Excellence teams.

Prior to her coaching stint with the Panthers, Bouman spent two seasons at Gannon University. The Golden Knights went 13-1 in the shortened 2020-21 season and 25-6 during the 2019-20 campaign. They breezed through the PSAC Tournament, including a win in the championship game against No. 7 Indiana (Pa.). They were set to compete in the Atlantic Regional as the host school before the pandemic canceled the rest of the season.

Bouman served as a volunteer assistant coach at Minnesota-Duluth for one year prior to her time with the Golden Knights. During her time at Minnesota-Duluth, Bouman helped lead the team to an NSIC Championship win.

Bouman was a standout player from 2011-14 on the Davenport women’s basketball team. During her three years with the Panthers, the team posted a 98-10 record, winning three straight WHAC regular-season and tournament championships. The team was also an NAIA national runner-up during the 2012-13 season and made a semifinal appearance the following year. Bouman finished her Davenport career with 674 points, 477 rebounds, and 105 blocked shots. She still ranks fourth in program history in blocked shots and sixth in field goal percentage (.558).

Bouman completed a professional playing career overseas from 2014-18 and her last stop was with the Hornsby Spiders in Australia.

“I hope to build upon the success this program has already seen by competing daily to become our best on and off the court,” stated Bouman. “Buffalo has been so welcoming already. I look forward to joining the Saints and giving back to this great community!”
