Boothe Resigns as Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Friends University; Will Become Head Coach at UT Permian Basin

Friends University Director of Athletics Dr. Carole Obermeyer has announced the resignation of RaeAnne Boothe as Head Women’s Basketball coach, effective immediately.

Boothe has accepted the same position with the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in NCAA Division II.

Boothe was 159-68 in seven seasons on the sideline for the Falcons, with a 103-24 mark in KCAC play. She led Friends to five NAIA National Tournament Appearances and the first two wins at the National Tournament in program history. The Falcons claimed three KCAC Regular Season Championships under Boothe, who was voted the KCAC Coach of the Year in 2012, 2013, and 2017. She coached 10 NAIA Scholar-Athletes, seven NAIA All-Americans, five KCAC Defensive Players of the Year and two KCAC Players of the Year.

“I have been very proud to serve as the Women’s Basketball coach the last seven years. The players and alumni are a very special group. People like them are why I got into this profession and also why it is very difficult to leave,” said Boothe. “I am very proud of what they have accomplished on and off the court. The team coming in is a Championship team with unbelievable potential. I will be rooting for them on the court and in life!

“I would like to thank each and every player that I had the privilege of coaching, all of the coaches who have assisted this program during my time as Head Coach. Most of all, my very loyal assistant coach, Nicole Midder. I would also like to thank the athletic staff, past and present, Mr. Zimmerman for giving me such a great opportunity and Coach Faber who has been a great mentor.”

Friends will begin an immediate national search to fill the open position.
