Carmouche Jr. added as Women’s Basketball Assistant Coach at LSU Shreveport

LSU Shreveport has announced the hiring of Nicholas Carmouche Jr. as an assistant coach for the Pilots women’s basketball program.

Carmouche brings coaching experience at the collegiate, high school and grassroots levels to Shreveport, along with a strong background in recruiting, player development, game preparation and basketball operations.

Most recently, Carmouche served as the Assistant Director of Basketball Operations at Cleveland State University during the 2025-26 academic year. In that role, he assisted with student-athlete recruiting efforts, player development and training programs, game-day operations, and NCAA compliance.

Prior to his time at Cleveland State, Carmouche spent more than two years at Carencro High School, serving as an assistant basketball coach and teacher. He developed and implemented offensive and defensive practice plans, organized player development sessions and mentored student-athletes on and off the court.

Carmouche has also served as the head coach of Higher Ground AAU in Lafayette, where he focused on individual skill development, team concepts, offensive and defensive systems, game planning and player evaluation. His coaching background also includes a collegiate assistant coaching position at John Melvin University, where he assisted with recruiting and evaluating student-athletes, as well as work with Riverdale High School’s women’s basketball program.

Carmouche joins a women’s basketball program that has established itself as one of the most successful programs in the Red River Athletic Conference and the NAIA. The Pilots have captured three consecutive RRAC regular-season championships and three consecutive RRAC tournament championships, consistently competing at the top of the conference and earning postseason opportunities.

The Pilots’ recent success has been built on a combination of player development, strong team culture and sustained excellence on the court. Carmouche will join Jones and the LSUS coaching staff with the goal of continuing that momentum while helping develop the next generation of Pilots student-athletes.

“I am delighted to welcome Coach Nicholas Carmouche Jr. to LSUS,” said Head Coach Deacon Jones. “I strongly believe Nick can be a valuable assest in the continuous success of our women’s basketball program. Nick brings a strong commitment to student-athlete development on and off the court, and we look forward to all he will accomplish in Shreveport.”

A native of Louisiana, Carmouche’s experience across multiple levels of basketball has provided him with a broad perspective on coaching, recruiting and student-athlete development. His responsibilities at Cleveland State also gave him valuable experience working within a NCAA Division I basketball operation.

Carmouche will assist with all aspects of the LSU Shreveport women’s basketball program, including recruiting, player development, scouting, practice planning, game preparation and day-to-day program operations.

The Pilots will look to build on their recent run of conference championships and continue competing at the highest level of the NAIA under Jones and his coaching staff.
