Northwest Florida State College has chosen Bart Walker as the next head coach for the college’s Women’s Basketball program.

Walker is currently the Head Coach for Motlow State Community College in Tullahoma, TN, a position he has held since 2016. Previously, Walker was employed as Assistant Women’s basketball coach at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, TN, 2012-2016; Head Women’s Coach at Northwest Florida State College, 2008-2010; Head Women’s Coach at Chattanooga State Community College in Chattanooga, TN, 2004-2008; and Head Women’s Coach at Hiwassee College in Madisonville, TN, 2000-2004.

Walker received his Bachelors in Business Administration and Master of Arts in Administration and Supervision of Education from Lincoln Memorial University, and his Associate of Science from Walters State Community College.

“Hiring a coach to lead our Women’s Basketball team is an exciting step towards the future of our program,” said Ramsey Ross, Athletic Director, NWF. “We fully believe that Coach Walker has the strengths that we need to effectively lead our players to success both on the court and in the classroom. We welcome him ‘home’ to NWF and look forward to using his leadership skills, work ethic, recruiting ability, head coaching experience, and enthusiasm to take our women’s basketball program to the next level.”

In just one year as Head Coach at Motlow State, Walker has lead the Lady Bucks to a 27-6 overall record, including being ranked #18 nationally and a State Regional Final appearance as well as 2017 NJCAA National Tournament appearance- the first in school history.

“I am honored to be selected as the next Head Coach for this outstanding women’s basketball program,” said Walker. “I will begin to recruit immediately and bring the best athletes to compete at NWF. The Panhandle Conference is the most difficult conference in the nation and we accept the challenge. As always, our goal is to be #1 in the Panhandle, the nation, and academically.”

Walker’s first day with NWF State College will be April 26.
