The Columbia College athletic department has announced the promotion of Matt Moore to the position of Head Coach of women’s basketball; Moore was named as interim coach on May 22, 2024.
“In our best start since the 2015 season, we can’t help but be thrilled at what Coach Moore has been able to accomplish with this talented group in such a short amount of time!” said Athletic Director, Cindy Potter. “Our values and traditions will continue to thrive under his leadership, producing tremendous young women who are champions on the court and in our community.”
During his three years as an assistant coach with the Cougars, Moore helped post an overall record of 79-17 with the program, accumulating 19 All-Conference performers, including three NAIA All-Americans.
This season, with Moore at the helm, the Cougars are off to their best start since the 2015-16 season as they are currently 12-0 overall and 6-0 in American Midwest Conference action. Most recently, the Cougars posted a 103-33 blowout over Blackburn College in their last game of 2024.
“I am grateful and appreciative to be able to continue my role here at Columbia College! I would like to thank Cindy Potter for giving me this opportunity, as well as these 16 young ladies on the team who make everyday a blast.” said Moore.
