Elmhurst University and Director of Athletics Dr. Glen Brittich have announced the hiring of Cameron Tucker as Elmhurst’s next head women’s basketball coach.
“We are extremely excited to welcome Coach Tucker to the Elmhurst community. When we began our search, our primary focus was to find an individual who would be able to build upon our recent success and also align with our department’s values of providing an exceptional student-athlete experience for our student-athletes. Coach Tucker quickly rose to the top of our list for many reasons” Dr. Brittich commented on the hire of Coach Tucker. “He has a significant amount of experience at all levels of basketball, and has achieved significant success in Division III women’s basketball. He also has a great passion for helping our student-athletes grow and develop off the court. His combination of passion for basketball success, off-the-court success, and a great track record of recruiting made him a great choice to lead our program for many years. We couldn’t be more excited about bringing Coach Tucker to Elmhurst and the extremely bright future of our women’s basketball program.”
Tucker joins the Bluejays after serving as an assistant coach at Wyoming for the past year. Previously, Tucker spent several years as the associate head coach at DePauw University. While with the Tigers, Tucker helped lead the team to six Division III NCAA Tournaments and five regular-season NCAC titles. Under Coach Tucker’s guidance, the Tigers had four NCAC Players of the Year, three Newcomers of the Year, nine First Team All-NCAC selections, and eight Second Team selections.
“I am very excited and thankful to be the next head women’s basketball coach at Elmhurst University. The people at Elmhurst have been incredibly kind and I want to personally thank President Troy VanAken, Vice President Dr. Phil Riordan, and Dr. Brittich for giving me this life-changing opportunity, as well as my wife Pam and all the coaches and administrators who have supported me over the years” Tucker commented. “I look forward to leading, teaching, and mentoring our young women in the classroom, on the court, and beyond as we build a nationally respected program together.”
Tucker also spent one season at Southeast Missouri State, where he signed three ESPN Top-300 recruits in his first class. He also spent the previous season at the University of Edinburgh, leading the team as the No. 1 ranked team in Scotland and fifth in the United Kingdom as the Head of Performance Basketball.
Tucker has also had assistant coaching stops at UW-Milwaukee, Houston Christian, and served one year as the Athletic Director at New Castle Middle School.
Tucker attended Ball State University, where he earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
