Anthony Taylor has been named the interim Head Coach of the Simpson University women’s basketball program for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
Coach Taylor is in his second year with the Red Hawks as he spent his first year as an assistant coach with the responsibility of recruiting, monitoring, and facilitating player development.
He takes the helm of the women’s basketball program with over 20 years of coaching experience at the collegiate and professional levels. This includes stops at various colleges (Pacific Christian College, Cal Baptist, Mira Costa Communtiy College) and a professional organization overseas in Germany.
His most recent stop before Simpson was at Mira Costa Community College from 2008-2018 with a Head Coaching stint in 2016-17.
Athletic Director Rob Harley emphasizes Coach Taylor’s leadership and the Christian Faith he brings to the Simpson Community.
“I am really excited about Coach Taylor leading our women’s basketball program. He brings a wealth of coaching and recruiting experience. More importantly, he is guided by his faith in Christ and committed to the overall well-being of our student-athletes.”
The women’s basketball team is coming off its fourth straight Cal Pac Conference tournament appearance and a NAIA national Championship appearance in 2023.
Coach Taylor is excited to carry on the successful culture and will begin duties immediately.

I hope to provide a meaningful experience to my athletes while enhancing their skills and values in life through sports.”
