Midway University has announced the hiring of Kylee Gorby as the new head coach of the women’s basketball program at Midway University.
“The opportunity to add a young, talented coach like Kylee to our coaching staff was one we couldn’t pass up,” said Daniel Prevett, Vice President of Athletics. “My familiarity with Coach Gorby from my time at Asbury and seeing how hard of a worker she was certainly helped in making this decision to bring her in as the next leader of our women’s basketball program.”
Prevett added, “Kylee is a very passionate coach who does a great job of maximizing her athletes’ potential on the court. We are excited to watch her take this program back to nationals in 2024.”
Gorby comes to Midway following a three-year stint as the head coach of Spalding University (Ky.), an NCAA Division III institution in Louisville.
During her three seasons at the helm, Gorby led the Golden Eagles had four St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) All-Conference selections as well as the SLIAC Defensive Player of the Year. She also helped lead her squad to a SLIAC Tournament appearance in both the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons.
Before becoming a head coach, Gorby served as an assistant coach at Georgetown College (Ky.) for three seasons from 2017-2020. During that time, she helped lead the Tigers to 44 victories and a berth in the NAIA Division I National Tournament in the 2018-19 campaign.
Gorby got her start in coaching at Asbury University where she served as an assistant coach for one season in 2016-17.
“I’d like to express my thanks to VP of Athletics, Daniel Prevett, and the administration at Midway University for this exciting opportunity,” noted Gorby. Having had the unique experience of competing in the River States Conference as a player and an assistant coach, I know firsthand its rich history and high level of competition.”
Gorby added, “I can’t wait to build on the tradition of success that is Midway women’s basketball! Go Eagles.”
