Mercyhurst Women’s Basketball Announces Pair of New Coaches

Head Coach of the women’s basketball program, Brooklyn Kohlheim, announced two new additions to her coaching staff ahead of the new season.

Molly Glick
Glick joins Mercyhurst after spending six seasons as part of Northern Kentucky University’s women’s basketball program. The former Norse laced them up for five seasons while returning as the team’s Director of Basketball Operations for the 2021-22 season. As a player at NKU, Glick was named a team captain three consecutive seasons (2017-2020) while being honored by the Horizon League as an All-Conference Second Team Member in 2020.

When asked about Molly, coach Kohlheim had this to say, “Molly is going to be a great addition to our program. We are excited to finally get her here and working within our program. She brings a wealth of professionalism and efficiency with her background and has a tremendous passion for coaching and developing. From the moment she was introduced to our program she’s brought an aura of strength and confidence that will serve us well and trickle down into our players. She has an uncanny way of relating to players while driving home performance expectations and standards that are going to help us raise the bar here at Mercyhurst.”

Sophia Fortner
Fortner is the second of the two additions to join the Lakers for the 2022-23 season with the Wadsworth, Oh. native joining coach Kohlheim’s coaching staff as a graduate assistant. Sophia began her collegiate playing career at the University of Toledo before moving on to Ashland University. During her time as an Eagle, Fortner was a two-time team captain while playing in 47 games. Sophia has been an active member on the sidelines as well, spending time as a summer league coach and youth camp assistant director at Wadsworth High School while also offering her expertise in individual lessons since 2015.

When asked about Sophia, coach Kohlheim had this to say, “Sophia is a winner. Flat out, she knows how to hold herself like a champion and she wants to coach professionally. Being recruited by some of the most premiere coaches in our profession to play on their rosters, Sophia is looking to carry on that standard of high performance and relationship building here at Mercyhurst. We are looking for her to come in and make an immediate impact in our program within player development and on-court coaching. Our team’s been highly impressed with her professionalism and class and we are looking forward to seeing her on our sidelines.”
