Crown athletics and Director of Athletics Mike Vigue, is thrilled to announce the hiring of Bridgeport Tusler as it’s next Head Women’s Basketball Coach. “I am thrilled to welcome Bridgeport, his wife Angie, and their son Phenix to the Crown Family.” Vigue said, “Bridge brings with him an impressive resume of competitive and coaching experiences, but what made him truly stand out throughout the process was his authenticity and passion. From the moment we first connected, I understood why he was considered a ‘home run hire’ by other coaches.”
Tusler has held a variety of basketball coaching positions and experiences prior to coming to Crown. At the high school level, he spent two seasons as the head boys’ basketball coach at Monticello High School, where they qualified for the 2021 3A state tournament. He then moved into an assistant coach’s position with the Macalester men’s basketball program and helped lead them to the MIAC championship game this past season.
Tusler graduated from Bethel University in 2018. He spent his freshman year at South Dakota State and was a member of the football team before transferring to Bethel. During his time at Bethel, Tusler was a member of the basketball and football teams for four seasons. He was a four-year starter on the basketball team and helped the Royals win the 2016-17 MIAC championship. He also earned MIAC All-Rookie honors, was a three-time All-MIAC selection and was named to the MIAC All-Defensive team.
Tusler graduated from Osseo High School in 2013. He was the starting point guard on the 2012 Class 4A state championship team. In football, Tusler was named the AP Player of the Year and Metro Player of the Year and was chosen Mr. Football in 2012. He is married to Angie, who played at Maple Grove High School and Division I basketball at Northern Iowa. She is now a varsity assistant and JV head coach at Eden Prairie high school, as well as being the recruiting coordinator for the entire crossfire girls’ basketball program. Bridge and Angie coach Crossfire AAU in the spring and summer together. They live in Maple Grove with their baby boy (Phenix) and their three dogs (Kima, Bunk and Bodie).
“Bridge is passionate about the mission of Crown athletics, and has a heart for cultivating relationships, developing student- athletes, and teaching the game of basketball. I am confident Bridge will continue to help us build a highly competitive and deeply connected women’s basketball program that honors Jesus. I am excited for the future of Crown’s women’s basketball.”
