Franklin Named New Dallas Christian Head WBB Coach

John Franklin has been named Dallas Christian College’s Head Women’s Basketball Coach. 
 
“I’m truly honored to be chosen as the Women’s Basketball Coach. I believe God has called me to help guide our future leaders into the next phase of being a servant leader”, says Franklin.
 
Franklin began his coaching career in 2005. Prior to DCC, he coached at Southern Methodist University, University of North Texas, and Paul Quinn, and Trinity University. His high school coaching stops include Episcopal School of Dallas and Trinity Christian Academy.
 
Franklin will assume his new role July 1, 2022, and succeeds Larry Tidwell who retired in Spring 2022.


John Franklin Bio:

With over 17 years of basketball coaching experience at the high school and collegiate level, Coach Franklin is best known for his effective communication style. He has mentored and coached several athletes that have advanced to higher collegiate and professional levels, including the NBA. But more importantly, he understands basketball to be a platform to help players grow in skill, character, and faith.
 
Coach Franklin’s core philosophy to create team unity by growing a culture where athletes are not simply playing with each other but for each other!
 
Coach Franklin is familiar with building and cultivating winning programs. His record includes a NCAA Division I tournament berth as well as 3 SPC State Titles, 1 TAPPS State Title and a SCAC Conference Title at the high school level.
 
Coach Franklin earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas, while playing for their men’s basketball program. He later pursued and earned his MBA from the University of Incarnate Word.
 
John is married to his wife, Jennifer and together they have two daughters (Ava and Harlowe).
