Princeton Women’s Basketball Hires Tiana Carter As Assistant Coach

Tiana Carter has joined the Princeton Women’s Basketball coaching staff, head coach Carla Berube has announced.

“I am both grateful and thrilled to be joining Princeton University and working alongside our talented staff and high caliber student athletes every day,” said Carter. “I’m excited to continue building on the tradition that has already been established with this historic, nationally ranked program, in addition to having the opportunity to learn from an experienced and highly respected leader like Carla Berube. Go Tigers!”

“I am thrilled to welcome Tiana to our Princeton Women’s Basketball Family,” said Berube. “She brings a wealth of experience as a standout player at Albany and as an assistant coach at Central Maine Community College and DII powerhouse Bentley University. Tiana is smart, driven, relatable and has a contagious, positive energy that will make an immediate impact on our team, future Tigers, and the Princeton community. We’re very fortunate to have Tiana join our coaching staff!”

Carter comes from Bentley where she finished her MBA with a concentration in Law and Taxation. During her two years at Bentley, the Falcons reached the postseason in both seasons, highlighted by a Northeast-10 title and trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2022.

Prior to her time at Bentley, Carter coached at Central Maine Community College, helping the Mustangs go 27-4 and secure a spot in the USCAA Small College Division II National Championship.

Carter graduated from the University of Albany with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication and rhetoric in 2018.

The Tigers’ assistant coach received several honors from the America East Conference during her four years with the Great Danes. The list included All-Rookie Team in 2015, Sixth Player of the Year in 2016 and both All-Conference third team and All-Defensive Team as a senior.

Albany’s all-time leader in blocked shots (154), Carter amassed 986 points, 642 rebounds and 116 steals in 125 career games for Albany while helping the team to three consecutive America East titles.
