Oklahoma States’ women’s basketball team has added Talby Justus to its staff as its director or recruiting it was announced today by Cowgirl head coach Jacie Hoyt.
“I am thrilled to have Coach Justus on board. He is one of those guys that lights up a room,” Hoyt said. “He will help strengthen and cultivate many recruiting ties, particularly in the state of Oklahoma, which is extremely important to us.”
Justus spent the 2021-22 campaign as an assistant coach for the University of Tulsa where he helped guide the Golden Hurricane to a 17-11 mark and a WNIT berth.
Prior to his return to the collegiate level, Justus served as the head boys basketball coach at Pawhuska High School for the 2020-21 season, where he coached his son, Holton, and the Huskies to a 16-5 mark.
Justus spent seven seasons as a member of the UT Arlington women’s basketball staff, working for the Lady Mavs from 2013-2020. His final two seasons he worked as the program’s associate head coach.
During his final six seasons with the program, UT tallied a 117-69 mark. In 2018-19, the Lady Mavs captured the program’s first Sun Belt Conference regular season title, advancing to the WNIT and winning the program’s first-ever postseason game with a first-round triumph over Stephen F. Austin.
Justus worked as a member of the New Mexico State Junior College coaching staff from 2011-13 after a 13-year run in the Oklahoma high school ranks, including stints at Ripley and Glencoe.
A 1998 graduate of Tabor College, Justus earned his master’s degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2008.
