Richard Thornton has resigned as the head women’s basketball coach at NJCAA D3 Bunker Hill Community College, and has accepted a position as the assistant director of athletics at nearby Arlington High School.

Thornton was hired as the Bulldogs head coach back in 2018, after serving as the head girls coach at Buckingham Browne & Nichols. He also spent time as the head coach at SUNY New Paltz (1998-02), and as an assistant at St Francis, Adelphi, and Springfield. During his time at Bunker Hill, he led his squad to a 22-29 record.

A search is underway for his replacement – the job will be posted in WHD’s jobs section shortly.
