According to a report from the Grand Forks Herald, Lake Region State Head Women’s Basketball Coach and AD Danny Mertens has been placed on leave.

The Herald reports that “the school released a statement saying Mertens was placed on leave with pay by school President Doug Darling. The statement, dated Oct. 31, says Mertens was put on leave effective Oct. 29 pending a review of information brought to the college’s attention.”

Also, according to the report, LRSC men’s basketball coach Jared Marshall will be the acting athletic director at LRSC, and assistant men’s basketball coach Colden Hutton will be in charge of the LRSC women’s basketball team.

Mertens has been at the school for the past seventeen years, including the past eight as the women’s basketball coach.
