Eastern New Mexico University Director of Athletics Dr. Paul Weir announced the appointment of Meghan De los Reyes as the next head coach of the Greyhound women’s basketball program.
“Meghan is a talented young coach with tremendous potential for all of us here at Eastern New Mexico University,” said Weir. “Not only will the young women in our basketball program benefit from her appointment, but our institution and community will immediately feel her impact. Her track record of past success and enthusiasm for the present make her a budding coaching star. We are excited to welcome Meghan and her husband Glen to our Greyhound family with open arms.”
De los Reyes comes into a program that has seen great success in the past few years. The Greyhounds have made three appearances in the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Tournament in the last four seasons. Recently, Eastern recorded its winningest season (22-9) since the 1992-93 season at 23-5, a season in which the Greyhounds won the Lone Star Conference in 1992-93.
“I feel incredibly honored and excited to be the next head women’s basketball coach at Eastern New Mexico University,” said De los Reyes. “I would like to thank Director of Athletics Paul Weir, President Caldwell, and the entire search committee for entrusting me with this remarkable team and opportunity. I’d also like to thank the members of the women’s basketball team for displaying their true passion, loyalty, and commitment to the program during this transition,” said De los Reyes. “I am looking forward to building upon the established foundation and winning tradition on the court, in the classroom, and in the community. I can’t wait to get started and pour everything I have into this program and amazing group of young women!”
