Alvernia University Director of Athletes Bill Stiles announced the hiring of Rayne Reber as the next Head Women’s Basketball Coach of the Golden Wolves.
Reber joins the Alvernia staff following six seasons as the head coach of Rosemont College, in Rosemont, Pa.
“Rayne stood out because of her success as a head coach, her familiarity and accomplishments as a student-athlete in the MAC Commonwealth, and her extensive recruiting network in our primary recruiting markets,” said Stiles. “Her passion and energy are contagious.”
Reber began her coaching career as the assistant coach for Rosemont from 2010-2013. She took over the program in the summer of 2014, and has led the Ravens an overall record of 73-58 and a 49-31 record in conference. The Ravens have made it to four postseason appearances in the past five seasons under Reber’s guidance. In 2018-2019, Reber led the Ravens to the best record in program history with a 24-4 season, including a 19 game winning streak and a 16-0 performance in the CSAC regular season. Reber led the Ravens to their first ever CSAC Championship, and their first ever NCAA appearance. She was also named the CSAC Coach of the Year.
Prior to beginning her coaching career, Reber played in the MAC Commonwealth at Widener University from 2006-2010. As a freshman, Reber was named the MAC Commonwealth Rookie of the Year
“First, I would like to thank Bill Stiles, the members of the search committee, and the Athletic Department for giving me this opportunity to coach at Alvernia University,” said Reber. “My vision is to help build a successful program that makes a positive impact for the student-athlete well beyond their four-year experience.”
“Alvernia University provides incredible resources and strong academic excellence by educating the mind, body, heart, and spirit – all attributes to help build a winning program and a successful student-athlete on and off the court,” added Reber. “I could not be more excited to be a part of the Golden Wolves family.”
Reber graduated from Widener in 2010 with her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. She earned her Masters of Education from Cabrini University in 2014.
Alvernia’s 2019-20 season is set to get underway in early November.
