Trinity Washington University Director of Athletics, Monique McLean has named Tiffany Lockett the new women’s head basketball coach. Lockett comes from Thomas College in Waterville, ME where she held an assistant coaching position. Before then she served 2 years as women’s head coach at Forest Park High School and 3 years at South County High School with the women’s basketball program.
“First, I would like to thank God for all that He has done and continues to do in my life. Secondly, I would like to thank Monique McLean for giving me this wonderful opportunity to lead such an extraordinary group of young ladies. I’ve played, coached, and lived in the DC area for nearly 20 years now and I’m excited for the future of this program. I look forward to building a culture of toughness based on trust and character,” said Lockett.
Lockett was a phenomenal player for the Baldwin-Wallace Lady Yellow Jackets, where she led the team in scoring and free throw percentage her senior year. She was also named Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week and ranked among the top scores (top 15) and free throw shooters (2nd overall) in the conference during the ’92-’93 season. Following her college career, Lockett played semi-professionally. Finally in 2011, the 1989 All-Ohio basketball player was inducted into the Wooster High School Hall of Fame for her outstanding achievements as a three-sport athlete (basketball, volleyball, track & field).
“We are very excited about the hiring of Coach Lockett. She brings a tremendous amount of passion and energy along with her extensive coaching experience. She will be a positive role model for the young women in our women’s basketball program and we can’t wait to see the great things to come with her at the helm of our program,” said McLean.
Lockett received her Master’s in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine (CA) and will soon begin working on her Master’s in Exercise Science.
