St. Joe’s Women’s Basketball Staff Update

Saint Joseph’s University women’s basketball head coach Cindy Griffin announced that Katie Kuester has been promoted to assistant coach and Christina Foggie has been named director of basketball operations.

The Hawks’ director of basketball operations the past three seasons, Kuester begins her first season as an assistant coach and will help with recruiting, scouting and while serving as a shooting coach.

One of the top shooters in Saint Joseph’s history, Kuester finished her career in the program’s top-10 for three-pointers (167) and free throw percentage (.861). Named to the All-Big 5 Second Team in 2010-11, the two-time captain was also a standout off the court earning Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll and Saint Joseph’s Athletic Director’s Honor Roll recognition. Following graduation, Kuester served as director of basketball operations at Lehigh and video coordinator at North Carolina in 2013-14 before taking on an assistant coach position at Loyola Maryland in 2014-15. Kuester takes over as an assistant for Stephanie McCaffrey, who stepped away from coaching.

“Katie is going to be a great asset for us as coach,” Griffin said. “She’s a great recruiter and communicator and adds a lot of energy.”

Foggie returns to SJU where she was served as video coordinator for two seasons, while earning her master’s degree in organizational development and leadership program in 2017.

She rejoins the Saint Joseph’s staff after spending the past year working for Worldwide Express.

A prolific scorer who finished her career seventh all-time in points at Vanderbilt (1,743), Foggie comes to Saint Joseph’s after spending the previous year coaching for the Philadelphia Belles AAU team and working in the private sector. As a senior, she was named a WBCA All-American Honorable Mention after leading the SEC in scoring (19.0 ppg) and helping the Commodores to the NCAA Tournament for the 15th straight season. Holding Vanderbilt’s all-time record for three-pointers (276), Foggie headed to the Commodores after a stellar high school career at Lenape Regional in which she was twice named to the New Jersey All-State team.

“We are very excited to have Christina back in a more productive role for us,” Griffin said. “She brings experience and organizational skills to our staff.”

Saint Joseph’s returns three starters and 10 letterwinners overall from last year’s team that went 19-15 and advanced to the Second Round of the Postseason WNIT.
