University of Scranton women’s basketball coach Trevor Woodruff has announced that Taylor Greene has been hired as the Lady Royals’ Assistant Coach, effective immediately.
Greene replaces Meghan Nowak on the Lady Royals coaching staff, as Nowak left the program last month to pursue a career opportunity outside of athletics.
“We’re extremely excited to have Taylor join our Lady Royal family,” said Woodruff. “Her experiences within the Landmark Conference and Mid-Atlantic region make her the perfect person to help us continue the long tradition of success that Scranton women’s basketball has enjoyed.”
Greene comes to Scranton after serving as an assistant over the last four seasons at two NCAA Division III schools – DeSales and Susquehanna.
The last two seasons, Greene has been an assistant at DeSales University in Allentown, where the team posted a 40-15 record over that span and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2017 after posting a 20-8 overall mark. In 2015-16, the Bulldogs went 20-7 and were the MAC Freedom regular season champions.
While at DeSales, Greene earned a master’s degree in Instructional Technology of Education, K-12, as well.
Before her time at DeSales, Greene served as an assistant at Susquehanna from 2013 through 2015.
There, she was a part of a staff that won the Landmark Conference’s Coaching Staff of the Year award after the 2014-15 campaign, as the Riverhawks posted a 17-9 overall record. In two seasons, Susquehanna won 29 games, as Greene assisted in all aspects of the program, while also handling game management duties in the spring.
Greene joined the coaching ranks in 2013 after a successful playing career at DeSales, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sports management. On the court, Greene was a part of two Bulldog teams that won MAC Freedom Conference titles (2010 and 2011), and served as team captain in her senior campaign of 2012-13.
Off the court, Greene was the MAC Sportsmanship Award recipient in 2013 and was DeSales’ Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representative from 2011 through 2013.
Greene joins the Scranton women’s basketball program this upcoming season off the heels of another successful campaign for the Lady Royals in 2016-17.
Overall, Scranton finished 26-4, winning their second straight (and fifth all-time) Landmark Conference Championship. In the NCAA Tournament, the Lady Royals won two games, advancing to the Sweet 16 for the third time in four seasons in the process.
