Nora Joyce has joined Keystone College’s women’s basketball program as an assistant coach according to an announcement made today by first-year head coach Meghan Sullivan. Joyce comes to the Giants’ sideline after spending a year as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Lackawanna College following an outstanding collegiate playing career at Marywood University.
At Lackawanna, Joyce helped lead the Falcons to an 18-7 overall record last season including a 12-3 mark in NJCAA Region XIX play. Lackawanna advanced to postseason play, where the fell to Union County College in the quarterfinals of the Region XIX Tournament.
In addition to coaching at Lackawanna, Joyce has been an AAU Youth Basketball Coach at Backcourt Hoops since February 2015. In this position, she has instructed youth players in the fundamentals of basketball while working with other coaches for the administration of practices, games, and camps.
Joyce began her coaching career after an outstanding playing career at Marywood. During that time, she led the Pacers to three Colonial States Athletic Conference playoff appearances and two bids to the ECAC South Region Tournament. Marywood also amassed 38 wins during Joyce’s career including 33 conference victories.
Joyce, who transferred to Marywood after midway through her sophomore season from Susquehanna University appeared in 70 games for the Pacers and totaled 561 points to go along with 187 rebounds, 95 assists, and 72 steals while playing as a guard. A standout in the classroom as well, Joyce was a three-time CSAC All-Academic Team honoree.
A standout at West Scranton High School, Joyce was a two-time Lackawanna League First Team All-Star (2010-11 and 2011-12) following a Lackawanna League All-Star Second Team nod in the 2008-09 season. She was also selected to the 2010 Taylor Lions All-Tournament Team.
Joyce earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Marywood in January 2016 with a dual certification in Special Education and Early Childhood Education.
