Radford head coach Mike McGuire announced the addition of Ross Jolly as an assistant coach on his women’s basketball staff Monday afternoon.
“Like Christie Rogers, Ross is another outstanding addition to our basketball program. He is someone I have followed over the past few years, while observing his discipline and diligence of recruiting on the road,” McGuire said. “He was an integral part of all aspects of the North Greenville program for three years and brings valuable experience to our program.”
In his role with the Highlanders, Jolly will serve as the scouting coordinator. His other duties will be post player development, recruiting and academics.
Jolly comes to RU following three seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at North Greenville. In his time with the Crusaders, Jolly coached five all-conference performers, including the 2015 Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year.
“I feel very blessed to be a part of Radford and the women’s basketball program. Coach McGuire has done a tremendous job in his short time at RU,” Jolly said. “I am fortunate enough to be working for someone who genuinely cares for the people in his program and the community. I am looking forward to working with our student-athletes and helping them accomplish their goals on and off the court.”
Prior to North Greenville, Jolly spent one season on the sidelines at UNC Wilmington for the 2012-13 season. Jolly aided in recruiting, player development, scouting and film exchange for the Seahawks.
Before joining UNC Wilmington’s staff, Jolly served as an assistant at Tusculum, leading the Pioneers to a 17-11 record and an NCAA Division II Tournament appearance.
During his time as a student at Chattanooga, Jolly served as a student assistant on Wes Moore’s staff that posted a 82-37 record, while collecting three Southern Conference championships and a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances. Jolly assisted in the day to day operations, while keeping statistics and filming practices.
A native of Sparta, Tenn., Jolly earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Chattanooga in 2011. Jolly comes from a rich basketball family as his sister, Kellie Harper, is a three-time national champion at Tennessee under hall-of-fame coach Pat Summitt and currently serves as head coach at Missouri State. His brother, Brent, is a former assistant coach with the men’s program at Chattanooga.
“Ross will oversee our scouting and continue working to develop our talented group of post players,” McGuire noted. “Now that our staff is complete, I’m ready to thoroughly prepare for the upcoming season.”
