Micaella Petrich Named Assistant Coach at Bethel University

Micaella Petrich was recently hired to be the Assistant Director of Wellness Center Operations and Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Bethel University. A former athlete at BU, Petrich was a member of both the women’s soccer and women’s basketball team. Her responsibilities will include general management of the brand new fitness and wellness center opening on October 12, in addition to recruiting, practice planning, and spiritual development for the women’s basketball team. Petrich’s position is provided for by the NCAA Division III Ethnic Minority and Women’s Internship Grant.

“We’re thrilled to bring a person of Micaella’s integrity and character back to Bethel,” commented head women’s basketball coach Jon Herbrechtsmeyer. “It’s very exciting not only for our program, but also for our institution’s community to have someone who loves this place and wants to provide the same experience for new students.”

Previously pursuing a career in the mission field, Petrich graduated from Bethel University in May 2014 double majoring in Biblical and Theological Studies and Third World Studies. After graduating Petrich served in Madagascar for four months before operating as a program coordinator at Lake Wapogasset Lutheran Bible Camp.

“I’m excited to return to Bethel because of how formational my undergrad experience was,” noted Petrich. “Similarly, I want to be apart of creating that community and environment for the students today.”

Herbrechtsmeyer continued, “It’s a home run hire to bring a player that knows the culture of who we are and what we’re trying to build. I’m very excited to have her voice in recruiting and knowledge with our guards. Overall, we couldn’t be more excited to have her back in our program.”
