Margaret White Named Head Coach at Ursinus

Ursinus College Director of Athletics Laura Moliken has announced the hiring of Margaret White as Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Ursinus College. White replaces Jim Buckley, who announced his retirement in late March.

“We are pleased to welcome Margaret to Ursinus College, as she possesses a wealth of basketball knowledge, a commitment to the Division III philosophy and a passion for creating a positive student-athlete experience,” Moliken said.

“Her familiarity with the Centennial Conference from her time at Gettysburg, as well as her work at Case Western Reserve, will help the women’s basketball program continue to succeed and reach new heights,” Moliken added.

White comes to Collegeville after serving as an assistant for the last two season at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. During her time at CWRU, she was responsible for organizing individual skill sessions, national recruiting, scouting, film exchange and academic monitoring. The most recent team featured four All-University Athletic Association players.

In addition to coaching, she was an instructor in the Physical Education department at Case.

She is no stranger to the Centennial Conference, as she was a 2009 graduate of Gettysburg College where she was a member of the women’s basketball team. During her senior season, she served as team captain. She is fifth all-time in school history in three-pointers made with 118. She was also an All-Centennial All-Academic selection.

Prior to CWRU, she was the assistant coach at Vassar College, where the team posted a 21-5 record during the 2012-13 season. Those 21 wins were a school record. The team also made the NCAA tournament in 2011-12.

She also was an assistant coach at Elmira College for two seasons, while also serving as JV coach.

“”I am extremely honored to be named as the head women’s basketball coach at Ursinus College,” said White. “I have always had tremendous respect for the college’s academic and athletic tradition, and I have been so impressed with how the campus community embraces the Division III athletics experience.”

“I am excited to get to know our student-athletes and work with them to compete for Centennial Conference championships,” White added.

White earned a degree in sociology with a minor in Spanish from Gettysburg graduating Summa Cum Laude, and then went on to earn a Master of Science in Education from Elmira in 2011 with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
